Security Consultancy in South Sinai

Recent tensions in the Middle East have heightened safety concerns for many individuals and businesses in the area. We have noted an increase in contact from hospitality and tourist venues that are most concerned.
Sceptre were recently asked by a new client to look at a business site in the South Sinai area of Egypt and recommend some cost-effective and reasonable measures to help protect the coastal site and staff from unauthorised access and theft.
Security Risk Analysis (SRA)
The Security Risk Analysis (SRA) process of establishing Threat, Vulnerability and risk was undertaken. To achieve this, we carried out a site visit and a number of other measures were undertaken, including examining the:
- Client’s generic business activities
- Geopolitical analysis
- Current baseline security
- Business critical assets
- Business information availability
- Staff make up and turnover
- Staff and logistical movements
The ALARP Principle
Sceptre were able to offer a number of cost-effective recommendations and procedural changes to reduce risk to the business and staff. These included using some natural surveillance and access-control environmental design changes that could be implemented at a minimal cost.
As we deal with both large and small businesses, affordability of measures can be vital. There often comes a point where diminishing returns on investment occur, which can create obstacles to growth. As a result, it is extremely important to focus on risk and cost-consummate measures, meaning we reduce risk to ‘as low as reasonably possible’, the ALARP principle.
Other recommendations were made that required a modest budget for the identified risk. Due to our visit, best use is now being made of existing security infrastructure, environmental design changes are being made, and Sceptre is assisting in identifying a local vendor to install design changes to Perimeter and building access control to an agreed-upon standard.
